Pratt, Ralph
(19 April 1877-15 April 1964)
Funeral services were held Friday, April 17
at 2 p.m. from the Loyal Methodist Church for Ralph Pratt, 86, a former resident
of Loyal. Mr. Pratt died Wednesday April 15 at 8:20 a.m. at the hospital in Owen
from old age complications.
The body of Mr. Pratt laid in repose at the
Myre Funeral Home beginning Thursday Morning and was taken to the Loyal
Methodist Church Friday noon. The Rev. Paul Troper, pastor of the Missionary
Baptist Church of Greenwood officiated at the services.
The pallbearers
were Clyde Grambach, Art Scheel, Art Prior, Allan Prior, Robert Chatterson and
Nyle Brandt.
The hymns “In the Sweet Bye and Bye” and “In the Garden”
were sung by Mrs. G. W. Nelson and Mrs. Paul Doering, accompanied by Mrs. Byron
Zepplin.
Burial was made in the Loyal Cemetery.
Ralph Pratt was
born April 19, 1877, in Jackson County. He was married at Black River Falls
September 19, 1903 to the former Blanche Woodworth. About 1913 the couple moved
to Loyal where he operated a blacksmith shop. Five years ago he sold his
business and made his home with his daughter and son-in-law, Mrs. Calvin Prior
at Greenwood. He was a member of the Missionary Baptist Church of Greenwood.
Mr. Pratt is survived by one son, Sherrin of Union Grove; three daughters,
Mrs. William (Rachael) Jess, Madison; Mrs. Calvin (Irene) Prior, Greenwood; and
Mrs. Leonard (Margaret) Chatterson, New York City. He is also survived by 10
grandchildren, and one brother, Clifford Pratt of Minnesota.
He was
preceded in death by his wife on August 26, 1951; three sisters and five
brothers.
Those who attended the funeral from out of town were Mr. and
Mrs. Sherrin Pratt, Union Grove; Mr. and Mrs. William Jess, Blanch and David,
Madison; Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Prior and family, Mundelein, Illinois; Mr. and Mrs.
Robert Chatterson, Beaver Dam. Robert Pratt, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Peterson, Mr. and
Mrs. Wade Pratt, Mr. and Mrs. Artis Harmon, Black River Falls; Mr. and Mrs. Vern
Pratt, Curtiss; Mrs. C. G. Nelson, Alfred and Jayne Johnson, Mrs. Edith Steinke,
Mrs. Walter McClurg, Mrs. Wallace Woodworth, Sparta; and Mrs. Ira Leach,
Neillsville.
