It has been announced
that Clark County will be one of 29 Wisconsin counties in 1964 to receive a IFYE
(International Farm Youth Exchange) exchange from a foreign country. The host
family in Clark County will be Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Loos route 1, Loyal.
The IFYE will be arriving August 27 and stay with the Loos family through
September 11. The Year’s IFYE to Clark County is 24 year old Japenese girl whose
name is Miss Kikue Usui. Her home address in Japan is 354 Tokunobu, Hiratsuka –
Si, Kanagawa –Ken, Japan.
She is living on a farm in Japan and is
interested in the 4-H club program, mechanized farming, and rural women’s
organizations.
The international Farm Youth Exchange program is a 4-H
program for selected young people who live and work with rural people in other
countries from 4 to 6 months. This program was started in 1948. There have been
over 1500 United States delegates who have gone to 67 countries and 1750
exchangeees visited in 48 states and Porto Rico. The IFYE program is conducted
by the National 4-H Foundation, Washington, D.C.
A number of IFYE’s have
stayed in Clark County in previous years. The girl from Japan will be the 5th to
come to Clark County in six years.
