Alvin (17 April 1923-14 May 2013)
Alvin W. Heckel, 90, Marshfield, died
on Tuesday morning, May 14, 2013, at Golden Living Center Three oaks in
Marshfield. A mass of Christian Burial was held at 11 a.m., on Saturday, May 18,
at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Marshfield. Rev. Eric Berns officiated.
Burial was in Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Marshfield.
Alvin Heckel, was born
on April 17, 1923, in the town of Lincoln, Wood County, to Henry and Mary (nee
Gleisner) Heckel. He attended Ebbe School. He married Ruby B. Nelson-Sternweis
on July 19, 1958, at Our Lady of Peace Catholic Church, Marshfield. He farmed on
the home farm in the town of Lincoln, Wood County, where he was born and raised.
His dream was to have a registered herd of Holsteins, which he did. He enjoyed
working the ground on his tractors and his dog, Sam. He was involved in Shady
Lane 4-H and various dairy organizations.
Alvin is survived by his loving
wife, Ruby; children, Richard (Nancy) Sternweis, Stratford, Diana (Mike)
McMeeken, Stratford, Gordon Sternweis, Marshfield, Paul (Bonnie) Sternweis,
Marshfield, Sharon (Randy) Follen, Vesper, Karen (Rick) Rhodes, Marshfield, and
Dennis Heckel, Marshfield; 19 grandchildren; and 32 great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by 2 grandsons, Dickie
Sterweis and Tom McMeeken; two brothers, Carl Heckel and Ed Heckel; and four
sisters, Marion Breseman, Alma Markowski, Betty Rankeland, and Mildred Lundeen.
