Hauge, James E. (26 May 1924 - 7 December 2012) With
Flag
James E. Hauge, 88, of Neillsville passed away peacefully Dec. 7,
2012, at the House of the Dove in Marshfield.
James was born May 26,
1924, to Edwin and Lorene Hauge of Neillsville. After graduating high school, he
went to school in Minneapolis for aircraft construction training. He then worked
at North American Aircraft Factory in Englewood, CA. He worked on the P-51
Fighter Plane and the B-51 Bomber. It was here he developed his love of planes.
In December of 1942, he received his notice to report for duty in the U. S.
Army. In January of 1943, his unit was activated and sent overseas. He served
until 1945 in the 391st AAA (AW) BN.
After the war he returned to
Neillsville. He married Janet Kunze June 28, 1947. They resided in Neillsville
where he worked a variety of jobs and raised their three children. Jim had a
passion for serving others. He was involved in many clubs and civic
organizations. He was also instrumental in founding Bruce Mound Winter Sports
area. One of his favorite places was The Highground, where he volunteered for
many years. He served a total of 33 years between his active duty service in the
U. S. Army and his service in the Wisconsin Army National Guard, where he
retired as a CW4. He had a love for model planes and model trains and was always
working on some new project. Placing his family and friends and those in need
above all else, Jim was kind, always positive and always generous. His words
lifted spirits and his actions spoke volumes about his character. Jim touched
many hearts and he will be deeply missed.
Jim is survived by his three
children, Terry (Robin) Hauge, Randy (Natalie) Hauge and Jamie Hauge (Brad)
Zimmerman; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and two sisters.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Jan; his parents, Edwin and Lorene
Hauge; and one sister, Helen Horner.
A Memorial Celebration of Life and
Military Honors will be held at The Highground in Neillsville Saturday, May 25,
2013, at 1 p.m. in the Meditation Garden. A private family interment will be at
the Neillsville City Cemetery at 3 p.m.
