The Kalkofen Cheese Factory, 3 1/2 miles
south of Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.), was completely destroyed by fire at about
11:45 o'clock Friday night.
The blaze, of undetermined origin, was
discovered by neighbors, at whose home Mrs. Kalkofen was attending a car party
at the time.
Other members of the Kalkofen family were asleep in their
rooms in the rear of the factory. They were awakened and some furniture and
clothing were saved from the burning building.
The loss is partly covered
by insurance.
