Funeral
services were conducted Monday afternoon at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, Town of
Greenwood, for Mrs. Madeline R. Holtz, 42 year old Town of Greenwood resident
who died Thursday night at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, where she had been
periodically hospitalized the past five months.
Rev. Rueben Schmitz
officiated and burial took place in the church cemetery. Serving as pallbearers
were Brian, Doug and Steve Holtz, Dean and Derik Carroll and Todd Smola.
The body lay in state at Hemer Funeral Home, Medford.
The former
Madeline Rose Carroll was born February 19, 1945, at Medford and received her
education in the Medford area schools. Her marriage to Gerald Holtz, who
survives, took place October 26, 1963, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Medford.
After their marriage, the couple resided at Madison for seven years
before moving to the Town of Greenwood, and farmed there until the time of her
death.
A housewife and mother, Mrs. Holtz was a member of St. Peter’s
Lutheran Church and a former member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church at Goodrich.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by her parents, Oliver and
Edna (Rogers) Carroll, W2123 Faber Lane, Medford; a daughter, Debra Holtz,
Medford; a son, Michael, Town of Greenwood; a sister, Elizabeth Carroll, Lyons;
a brother Albert, Medford, and two grandchildren.
