Rebecca C. “Becky” Amacher, 50, of Tempe, Arizona, died Saturday, February
3, in Arizona.
She was born November 9, 1945, in Marshfield to Armond
and Marcella “Marcy” Amacher. She graduated from Medford High School in 1963.
While in high school, she was secretary of the Junior class, editor of the
Senior Annual staff, and a member of the National Honor Society.
She
graduated from the School of Nursing, Eau Claire in 1966, and was certified by
the Wisconsin State Board of Nursing as a registered nurse. She was later
registered in Arizona with inactive status in both Colorado and Wisconsin.
From 1966 to 1973, she had a fulltime position at the University of
Wisconsin Hospital in the emergency unit. She worked with drug overdose victims
in addition to counseling and referral emergencies and was also on the cardiac
arrest team.
She then worked a half-time position involving student
nursed in a baccalaureate degree program in the practice of nursing skills
taught by mediate instruction until 1976. The position also involved
consultation with faculty regarding curriculum implementations in the
Instruction Materials Center.
Becky moved to Arizona 20 years ago and
had resided at the Desert Samaritan Care Center in Mesa for seven years. She was
a member of Mountain View Lutheran Church in Ahwatukee.
Survivors
include her parents, Armond and Marcella Amacher and her twin brother Ryan, and
his wife, Susan.
Contributions in her memory will be used towards a
nursing scholarship.
