Jackson, Adolph Julian (11 April 1896 - 7
October 1969)
Funeral services were held last Friday from Our Savior’s
Lutheran Church for Adolph Julian Jackson, 73, of Greenwood, who died October 7
at the hospital in Marshfield where he was admitted a few days before.
The Rev. David Wenger officiated and burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Military rites were in charge of the Wallis-Hinker Legion Post No. 238.
Pallbearers were: John Suda, Leroy Fravert, Thomas Elmer, John F. Trunkel,
Harold Hendrickson and
Eugene Sowieja. Mrs. Duane Olson and Mrs. Otto Voie
sang “Behold the Host” and “Abide with me,” with Mrs. Don Warner organ
accompanist.
Mr. Jackson was born April 11, 1896, in Seneca. He received
his education in Mount Sterling. He was a veteran of World War I and served in
France for nine months. He was married June 8, 1921, to Adeline Behrens in
Greenwood. He was engaged in farming and in the machinery business in Greenwood
until going to Lake Forest, Ill., in 1954, where he was employed as a gardener
for 10 years. He returned to Greenwood when he retired in 1965 and had lived
here since. He was a member of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church.
Mr. Jackson
is survived by his wife; four daughters, Mrs. Glen (Elaine) Zilk of Neillsville,
Mrs. Gordon (Marjorie) Christopherson of Greenwood, Mrs. Laverne (Carole) Schuld
of Coram Long Beach, N. Y., and Mrs. Curtis (Betty) Hong of Eau Claire; three
sons, Robert of Sparta, Conrad of Deerfield, Ill, and Alan of Highwood, Ill.; 24
grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren; a sister, Mrs. Barbara Olson of
Rockford, Ill., and a brother, John Jackson of Tunnel city.
