Schlinkert, Theodore Carl (6 August 1897 - 26 October 1969)

Theodore Carl Schlinkert, 72, of Neillsville died at his home Sunday noon. Funeral services were held Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. from the Georgas Funeral Home, with the Rev. Roland Roehrs of the Zion Lutheran Church of Granton officiating. Burial was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Mr. Schlinkert was born August 6, 1897, to William and Augusta (Flouke) Schlinkert, in Clark County. He served in World War I from October 21, 1918, to December 18, 1918. After receiving his discharge at Camp Dodge, Ia., he returned to Neillsville and worked on the farm. He was married to Ella Zickert in Neillsville, November 12, 1919. He worked at Dahnert’s garage as a mechanic for several years and operated his own garage in Owen for 14 years.

He returned to Neillsville in 1944 and worked in a local garage and later as night clerk at the Merchants Hotel. At the time of his death, he was employed as maintenance man in a local garage.

He is survived by his wife, Ella; a son, Herbert, of Ramsey, N. J.; a daughter, Mrs. George (Bernadine) L. Johnson of Mt. Horeb; and seven grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Schlinkert recently returned from Mt. Horeb where they observed an early 50th wedding anniversary at the home of their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. George L. Johnson. Others present Saturday at the Johnson home were their daughter, Patricia; Mr. and Mrs. Herbert Schlinkert and daughter, Karen, of Ramsey, N. J.; Mr. and Mrs. John Almond of Carpentersville, Ill., and Mr. and Mrs. Henry Prelozni and two daughters of La Crosse. Mrs. Prelozni is a sister of Mrs. Herbert Schlinkert.

Those who called on Sunday were Mr. and Mrs. Robert Johnson and Mrs. Archie Johnson of Baraboo; Mr. and Mrs. Harold Pick, Mr. and Mrs. William Bryson, Mr. and Mrs. Stanley Loper, Mr. and Mrs. D. A. Kobs and Mrs. Arnold Forshaug and son, Erick, all of Mt. Horeb.

Mrs. Johnson brought her parents home and spent a few days in Neillsville.
