Attwood, Alfred E.  (26 NOV 1898 – 08 AUG 1965)

Alfred E. Attwood, born in Nova Soctia November 26, 1898, passed away at his cottage on Green Lake, August 9.  Funeral services were held at the Methodist Church in Elroy where he had been pastor from June 1960 to June 1965.  Rev. Herbert Thompson, Central District Superintendent of the West Wisconsin Conference of the Methodist church, officiated at the Memorial Service.  The congregation composed of many friends, relatives and fellow pastors, sang triumphantly two beautiful hymns as testimony of their faith.  The following persons attended the service from Loyal, Mrs. Everett Gehrt, Mrs. Neil Johnston, Mrs. Nettie Philpott, Mrs. Alva Kauffman, Roy Thomas, and Rev. Paul Doering.

Pastor Attwood was a graduate of Coe College in Iowa.  He was admitted to the West Wisconsin Conference in Full-Connection as an ordained Elder June 1936.  Pastor Attwood served churches at Coloma, Ellsworth, Trempeleau, Melrose, Gays Mills, Loyal (1958-60) and Elroy.  In June of this year Pastor Attwood retired from the ministry.  He is survived by his wife Phebe and son David who is a music instructor at Phillips.
