Kuehn, Air Force M/Sgt George R. (Military Decoration - 1969)
Air
force M/Sgt George R. Kuehn, son of Mr. and Mrs. George E. Kuehn of Rt. 1
Neillsville, has been decorated with the Bronze Star Medal for meritorious
service while engaged in military operations against Viet Cong forces.
Sgt. Kuehn was cited for this performance as an aircraft maintenance technician
with the 45th Tactical Reconnaissance squadron, Vietnam. He performed in an
outstanding manner while supervising the maintenance, logistics, scheduling and
launch recovery operations for 20 RF-101C aircraft.
He was presented the
medal at Laredo AFB, Tex., where he is now assigned to the 4060th Organizational
Maintenance squadron, a unit of the air training command.
Sgt. Kuehn was
stationed in England for three years and in 1968 was presented the Airman’s
medal for heroism at the voluntary risk of his life. Sgt. Kuehn, flight chief in
the 77th Tactical Fighter squadron a Wethersfield, was awarded the medal for
heroic action on May 29, 1967, at Wheelus AB, Libya, when he risked his life
extinguishing a fire on a burning aircraft.
The sergeant, a graduate of
Neillsville High School, is a veteran of the Korean War.
His wife, Amada,
is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Trinidad Flores, 776 Pierce St., Eagle Pass,
Tex.
