Kurth, Sylvia (16 July 1900 - 10 November 1969)

Mrs. Sylvia Kurth, 69, of Neillsville, died at her home here Monday. Eastern Star services were held Wednesday night from the Georgas Funeral Home at 8 p.m. Funeral services are to be held today (Thursday) at 1:30 p.m. from the United Church of Christ, with the Rev. George Yons officiating. Burial will be made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Mrs. Kurth was born July 16, 1900, to George F. and Luella Paulus Milton in Clark County, where she received her education. She graduated from Neillsville High School, Eau Claire Teachers College (now Wisconsin State University-Eau Claire) and attended Washington University at St. Louis, Mo. She took several courses in advanced teachers’ training and received a Bachelor of Science degree from Eau Claire. She taught school in the Neillsville area, retiring in 1967. She was married July 2, 1921, in St. Paul, Minn., to the late Lewis (Frosty) Kurth, who died in 1957.

For several years she was a Clark County Jury Commissioner.

She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. William(Jeanne) Miller of Tucson, Ariz., and Mrs. John (Roberta) Tibbett of Rockford, Ill.; two brothers, James and Elmo Milton of Neillsville; and by six grandchildren.

Mrs. Kurth was a member of the United Church of Christ, Carmi Chapter, No. 60, Order of Eastern Star, of which she was a past worthy matron, and the Wisconsin and National Retired Teachers Association.
