Hass, Larry R. (1 JUN 1951 - 18 JUN 2013)
Larry "Hassie" R. Hass, age
62, of Colby, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 18, 2013 at his mother's
home under the tender care of Ministry Home Care Hospice surrounded by his
loving family holding his hand. A Memorial Service will be held at 11:00 AM on
Saturday June 22, 2013 at First United Church of Christ in Colby. Pastor Teri
Hanson will officiate. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM until the time of
service Saturday at the church. There will also be a Celebration of Life Tribute
on Friday, June 21 from 5 until ? at the Colby Post #2227 VFW Club. The
Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Colby is serving the family.
Larry was
born on June 1, 1951 in Marshfield, the son of Reuben and Winifred (Martens)
Hass. He graduated from Colby High School in 1969 and attended North Central
Technical College. Larry hauled milk for a year before buying a farm in the Town
of Colby in 1972. Last year he celebrated 40 years of farming. Larry loved
farming and his last wish of having his crops planted was granted.
He
loved working the land, John Deere tractors, tractor pulls, playing cards with
the boys, four-wheeling, hunting, June Dairy Breakfasts and could not wait for
Packer football. Larry especially loved his family and friends.
He was
united in marriage to Marilyn (Bartnik) Luepke in 1973 whom he later divorced
and to Pam (Oldham) Hass whom he also divorced.
Larry is survived by his
three children: Carrie (Ernie) Kibbel, Spencer, Kimberly Hass, Spencer and
Nathan (Jody) Hass, Marshfield; eight grandchildren: Karly and Carson Kibbel,
Zachary, Claire, Sarah and Jacob Hass, Kayla and Victoria Cram; his mother,
Winifred Herrmann, Abbotsford. He is further survived by his two sisters: Jane
(David) Pescinski and Lois (Jeff) Fischer, both of Colby; aunts, uncles, nieces,
nephews, other relatives and many friends.
He was preceded in death by
his father, Reuben, step-father, Richard Herrmann and a brother, Ronald.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to First United Church of
Christ or Ministry Home Care Hospice.
