Johnson, Jacob (14 Nov 1836 – 18 Aug 1906)
Jacob Johnson was born in Verdalen Norway, November 14, 1836. In 1859 he was
united in marriage to Elsie Frygstad and in 1876 they emigrated to this land of
promise, and located in Minn. living there one year, after which he came to this
place where he lived until the time of his death.
Deceased has been ill
for the past eleven months and has been since April, a patient sufferer from
cancer of the stomach, which caused his death. All that loving hands and medical
aid could do was done, but his life slowly ebbed away until Saturday afternoon
at 5 o’clock he breathed his last. He was a kind husband, loving father and
thoughtful neighbor and will be greatly missed by all. Besides a sorrowing widow
he leaves six daughters and two sons, Mrs. Blixrud of Washburn, Mrs. Erlandson
of Eau Claire, Mrs. Holman of Mondovi and John Johnson of Denver, Colo., the
Misses Anna and Ida and son Martin who are at home, also numerous relatives and
many friends to mourn his loss.
Funeral services were held at his home at
twelve o’clock Tuesday, Rev. Christopherson officiating. The remains were
interred in the South Beef River cemetery.
