Schmuhl, Fred (Feb 1853 – 17 Sep 1906)
Last Thursday at 10:30 the
remains of Fred Schmuhl, an old resident of Fairchild, were intered at the city
cemetery.
Fred Schmuhl was born in Mechlenburg, Germany, Feb. 1853. At
the age of 16 he immigrated to this country, settling first at Milwaukee and
later moving to Waukesha and thence to Fairchild, Wisconsin. Three years ago in
company with is brother-in-law, Wm. Abraham, took up a homestead near Minot,
N.D., where he resided ever since. Two years ago he became afflicted with
tuberculosis, which disease caused death on the morning of Sept. 17.
It
was the wish of the deceased to be laid to rest here at Fairchild and
accordingly Mr. Abraham accompanied the remains to this place. The funeral
services here were in charge of Rev. Kettler of Minot, N.D.
