Wright, Mrs. John (Threatened by Husband - 6 APR
1912)
Saturday night -- complaint was made by Mrs. John Wright that her
husband threatened to kill her and their children. Mr. and Mrs. Wright have been
occupying a part of the O'Neill House during the winter. Saturday after the fire
they were taken in at the Neillsville Hotel. During the day both of them had
been subpoenaed to give such information as they could as to the origin of the
fire, and had undergone a grueling cross-examination. Mr. Wright is in very poor
health, suffering from Bright's Disease and Dropsy, he also drinks heavily. The
agitation of the fire, the examination, ill health and drink may have made him
desperate. Mrs. Wright is said to be destitute of clothing. All sorts of rumors
are afloat and regarding the origin of the fire and suspected parties. It is
best at this time to suspend judgment and condemn no one until more facts are
known.
