Tucker, James (Barn Burns - 3 MAY 1912)
During the storm of last Friday evening the barn of James Tucker, three and a
half miles southeast of the city, caught fire from Lightning and burned the
entire structure to the ground, including about 20 tons of hay. The fire was
first notices about 10:00 o'clock when the roof was falling in, letting the
flames shoot to the sky. About $700 insurance was carried on the building and
$200 on hay. Nearly everything in the building except the hay was saved.
The foundation was built of cement and crumbled from the heat of the fire,
making it useless for building purposes again.
The barn is 36x50.
