Gerhardt, Elsie (23 May 1886 - 24 November
1969)
Mrs. Walter (Elsie) Gerhardt, 84, of Greenwood, died in Neillsville
Monday, November 24. The body will lie in state Thursday at the Georgas Funeral
Home, and funeral services will be held from there Friday at 1:30 p.m., with the
Rev. Lee Holmes of Marshfield officiating. Burial will be made in the
Neillsville City Cemetery.
Mrs. Gerhardt, the daughter of Charles and
Mathilda (Hanchman) Eisentraut, was born May 23, 1886, in the Town of Grant. She
received her education in Clark County schools. She attended the McCall School
in the Town of Grant. After her marriage to Walter Gerhardt on November 24,
1908, (exactly 61 years from her date of death) they farmed in the Town of Grant
for 45 years.
They moved into Neillsville, where they lived for three
years; then followed 16 years at Mt. Horeb, before moving to Greenwood in 1965.
She was active in church work and was organist at the Methodist (Pleasant Ridge)
Church for many years.
Survivors include her husband, Walter; a daughter,
Mrs. John (Helen) Syth of Greenwood; two sons, Irving W. of Madison and Robert
W. of Florissant, Mo., six grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
