Syth, Martha Helen (15 September 1889 - 27 November 1969)
Mrs. James
Syth, 80, died suddenly at her home November 27 of an apparent heart attack.
Mrs. Syth, the former Martha Helen Gries, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Henry
Gries, was born September 15, 1889, in Manitowoc. She was married October 1,
1912, in Greenwood to James Syth. She lived most of her life in Greenwood,
except for 20 years, when they lived in Jim Falls, returning to Greenwood two
years ago, after retirement.
Survivors are her husband; and three
sisters, Mrs. Albert (Mary) Wagner and Mrs. Robert (Alice) Stiefvater, both of
Manitowoc, and Mrs. Andrew (Catherine) Lindner of Greenwood.
Funeral
services were held Monday morning from St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Greenwood.
The Rev. Leander Koopman officiated. Burial was made in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
Pallbearers were: Arleigh Syth, Hugh Christie, Lawrence Cox, Viv Carteron,
Lawrence Johnson and Clarence Verhulst.
