Lawrence, Gilbert James (5
January 1911 - 8 December 1969)
Gilbert James Lawrence, 58, of Rt. 1
Granton, died at his home Monday of an apparent heart attack. Funeral services
will be held today (Thursday) at 2 p.m. from the York Center Methodist Church,
with the Rev. Conrad Mickelson officiating. The body lay in state at the Georgas
Funeral Home in Neillsville Wednesday morning and was to be taken Thursday to
the church to lie in state from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial
will be made in the York Center Cemetery.
Mr. Lawrence was born January
5, 1911, in the Town of York to Horace and Lucy (Free) Lawrence. He received his
education there. On June 22, 1937, he was married to Helen Mortimer in
Belvidere, Ill. He farmed most of his life in York Center. He also worked for
Roddis Company in Marshfield and the John Wuethrich Creamery Co. Greenwood.
Survivors include his wife, Helen; two sisters, Mrs. Lee (Vera) Buddenhagen
of Rt. 2 Neillsville and Mrs. Walter (Velda) Richardson of Madison; and a
brother, Byrl Lawrence of Marshfield.
