Beyer, Fern Cleome (14 October
1893 - 20 December 1969)
Mrs. Arnold Beyer, 76, of Greenwood, died
Saturday in Memorial Hospital in Neillsville, where she was admitted December
10. Death was attributed to pneumonia.
Mrs. Beyer, the former Fern Cleome
Sloniker, was born October 4, 1893, in Hillsboro to Joseph S. and Myrtle (Apker)
Sloniker. She was married June 11, 1914, in Greenwood to Arnold Beyer. He died
July 6, 1967. She was a graduate of Greenwood High School, class of 1911. She
attended Oshkosh Teachers College and taught school for several years. After
their marriage they lived in Greenwood for many years; 12 years in Alma Center
and three years in Marshfield, where Mr. Beyer managed cheese factories. Mrs.
Beyer went to reside in Memorial Home in Neillsville April 1, 1969. She was a
member of the Zion United Church of Christ and its Women’s Guild.
Surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Elmer (Floy) Horn of Chili and Mrs. Oscar (Zula)
Miller of Greenwood; and a brother, Ross Sloniker of Greenwood.
Funeral
services were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday from the Zion United Church of Christ. The
Rev. David Logue officiated. Burial was made in the Greenwood Cemetery.
