Drake, Mr. and Mrs. Walter 60th wedding anniversary (04 July 1904-04 July 1964)

A quiet celebration was held at the Walter Drake home Saturday, July 4 in honor of their 60th wedding anniversary. A picnic dinner was enjoyed at noon by the children and the children and relatives.

Mrs. Drake wore a corsage of pink rose buds and her husband, Walter a boutonier of pink carnations. The day was spent visiting and the honored couple received gifts of money and other various remembrances.

Mrs. Walter Drake was the former Sarah Miles, born May 26, 1886, daughter of William and Sarah Miles. She received her education in the Spokeville School and spent her girlhood at home with her parents. She is affiliated with the Methodist Church of Loyal. Her hobby is making smocked sofa pillows.

Mr. Drake was born September 19, 1884, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Drake. He was educated at the Heathville School and spent his early days at home on the farm of his parents. He is not in the best of health since a recent operation but still enjoys some time fishing.

The couple were married July 4, 1904 at the Loyal Methodist Church, by Rev. Hills. The first four years in the state of Washington. They have lived in Loyal the rest of their life.

Mr. and Mrs. Drake have six children, twelve grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Guests who attended the reunion wee: Mr. and Mrs. Ben Marcinkus, Waukegan, Illinois ;Mrs. Beatrice Rosik. McHenry, Illinois; Mr. and Mrs. George Drake and son Michael, Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Drake and daughter Susan, Loyal; Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Schulz, Marshfield; Mr. and Mrs. Wilbur Fields, Granton.

Neighbors and friends who called during the day were: Mr. and Mrs. Ross Stevens, Mrs. Willam Rohloff, Mr. and Mrs. George Brenner Sr., and Mr. and Mrs. Milton Bombardt, all of Loyal.
