McTaggart, Mina (1843 – 16 Nov 1915)
Mrs. Mina McTaggart died at
Marshfield Nov. 16, 1915.
Deceased was a daughter of Robert and Mary Mary
Maines, born in St. Georges, Canada, in 1843, coming to Clark County with her
parents in 1854. For thirty years she was a resident of Neillsville. She was
united in marriage to Louis Rivers in 1858. To this union two daughters, Della
and Cloie, both deceased, were born.
In 1884 she was united in marriage
to Durlin McTaggart, who is left to mourn her death.
Mrs. McTaggart was
one of the worthy pioneer women of this locality, being the first white woman
who settled in Marshfield. The memory of such as she, who toiled on the
foundation of civilization in this vicinity, should be honored. She was not able
to attend church regularly, but lived a good Christian life.
The remains
were laid to rest in Neillsville Cemetery by the side of her daughter, Della.
