Schroeder, Charles (15 March 1886 - 15 February 1970)
Charles Schroeder, 83, of Memorial Home, Neillsville, died Sunday. Funeral
services were held Tuesday at 1:30 p.m. from St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran
Church with the Rev. Norman W. Lindloff officiating. Burial was made in the
Neillsville City Cemetery.
Mr. Schroeder was born March 15, 1886, to
Carl and Christena Schroeder in Chicago, Ill., where he received his education.
He came to Clark County with his parents and located on a farm in the Town of
Levis. In 1916 he and his mother moved to Neillsville. He was a painter by
trade. He was a member of St. John’s Evangelical Lutheran Church.
He is
survived by nieces and nephews, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Acheson of Rt. 3,
Neillsville, and Mr. and Mrs. Victor Pagenkopf of Platteville, and others out of
this area.
Pallbearers were Edward Greeler, Emil Wesenberg, Paul Jacob,
John C. Brandt, John Bryan and Charles Anding. “For Me to live is Jesus” and “I
Fall Asleep in Jesus’ Wounds” were sung by children of St. John’s Evangelical
Lutheran School, accompanied at the organ by Victor Lehmann.
Those from
out-of-town attending included Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Schmidt and Mr. and Mrs.
Alfred Schroeder of Oshkosh and Archie Schultz of Granton.
