A.C. Altenbern, our new road boss, is alive to his new duties and everyone has
received a polite invitation to contribute the necessary time required by law,
toward the improvement of our roads.
Last Tuesday A.L. Clair had a rock
hauling bee and had the rock hauled to his new house foundation.
Gust
Samberg has completed his contracted to build the mile and a half road and the
men who have been assisting him have all returned home. Now, as soon as the Abel
Bros. complete their one mile contract, we will have an outlet to Greenwood.
A.O. Rhea, County Supt. Of Schools, was here on Friday and expressed himself
as well pleased with our school improvements, as well as the class of work in
the school room.
R.R. Thomas is having a barn 14 x 20 built on his farm.
This is only for temporary quarters and will be converted into a sheep shed when
he builds a larger barn next year.
Wm. Dammeier sawed wood for R.R.
Thomas and George Hintz on Friday.
Word has bee received from Chicago
that little Elizabeth Clair, who was operated on for club feet at the Lakeside
Hospital, is recovering nicely.
Ignac Cesnik sold 40 acres of land Friday
to a party from Colorado.
Geo. Newman from Fairchild completed his work
here Saturday and returned home. The last work done was to paint the bark,
chicken house, etc., on the farm of A.L. Clair.
G.W. Bishop shipped his
drilling outfit from here Thursday.
Harvey Long is painting his house.
A number of Slavish people attended church in Greenwood on Sunday.
