Gall, SFC Melvin C. (Military Notes -1970)
SFC Melvin C. Gall, 32, a
former resident of Neillsville, Wisconsin, is being transferred to Vietnam to
serve his third tour of duty there. SFC Gall is the son of Carol Ayers, R. 11
Olympia, Wash., and the late Archie Gall, Neillsville. He is a 1956 graduate of
Neillsville High School. SFC Gall will be on a 30-day leave prior to attending
six weeks of special warfare school at Fort Bragg, N. C. He will also attend
nine weeks of Vietnamese language school at Fort Bliss, Tex., before reporting
to Vietnam in August. He will be an advisor to a South Vietnamese airborne unit.
In 1962-1963 he served in RVN as a battalion light weapons advisor and he
returned to Vietnam in 1965 with the 5th Special Forces for 18 months of duty.
His last assignment was as the chief instructor of non-military subjects in the
operations division of the U. S. Army correctional training facility, Fort
Riley, Kans.
