Recently, the “Rev. Bob” received
a letter of appreciation from the Presbytery of Winnebago for his many years of
outstanding and dedicated service.
Presbyter is a leadership branch of
the Presbyterian denomination located in Neenah.
The letter of
appreciation contained 29 signatures, including those of many of the
denominational leaders.
Rev. Everhard, during the past 50 years, served
three fill-tie churches and seven part-time churches. He served the First
Presbyterian Church of Abbotsford for 15 ½ years, making him the longest
pastorate of the church to date.
Pastor Everhard was granted the
honorary status of “pastor emeritus” from the Presbytery of Winnebago and the
Presbyterian Church USA after his retirement.
In a thank you letter,
Rev. Everhard said, “In the words of George M. Cohan, played by James Cagney, in
the movie “Yankee Doodle Dandy,” “My mother thanks you, my father thanks you, my
sister thanks you, and I thank you.”
Rev. Everhard, who didn’t fully
retire until he was 80 years old, continues to reside in Abbotsford.
