Greenwood (19 March 1970)
The Birthday club was entertained Monday
evening by Mrs. Palmer Vinger with a 6:30 dinner at the café and card playing
later at the Vinger home. Prizes were awarded to Mrs. Hazel Helwig, Mrs. James
McConnell, Mrs. A. C. Buker and Mrs. Esther Etta.
Mrs. Johanna Horvat was
admitted Sunday to Memorial Hospital in Neillsville.
Mr and Mrs. Kurt
Zocher of Westchester, Ill., spent several days at their home here and visited
friends.
Mrs. Andrew Djubenski and son, Dennis, were dinner guests
Friday at the home of Mrs. Gordon Christopherson and family.
Gene Sowieja
and Darwin Vollrath have returned to Madison after spending several days with
their respective parents, Mr. and Mrs. Eugene Sowieja and Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth
Vollrath.
Richard Novobielski of Milwaukee spent the weekend at the home
of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Novobielski.
An organizational
meeting of the board of directors of the Greenwood Cooperative Credit Union was
held Tuesday evening. New officers are: Fred Timmler, president; David
Danielson, vice-president; Frank Govek, secretary; Theodore Abel, treasurer.
Other members of the board are Sylvester Hinker, Robert Schneider, Sr., and
Godfrey Dyre. Members of the credit committee are: Jerome Hinker, Edward
Sloniker and George Stark; the examining committee: H. M. Bergemann, Donald
Elmer and the manager, Gilbert J. Straus.
Mr. and Mrs. Emmett Wessel,
Everette Wesel, Miss Eunice Horn, William Schubert and Mr. and Mrs. James
Wachsmuth of Milwaukee attended the Horn-Wessel wedding here Saturday and spent
the weekend with relatives here.
Andrew Djubenski returned to his home
Saturday after being a surgical patient at the University Hospital in Madison
for a week. John Plautz of Willard visited him Monday morning.
Mr. and
Mrs. Hugh Severson visited Frederick Gotz, a hospital patient in Marshfield, on
Friday.
Mr. and Mrs. Wesley Falkner and daughter and Mrs. M. Prockett of
Plum City were guests Wednesday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Scherr. Mr.
Falkner is a brother of Mrs. Scherr.
Roy Kaisler of Pewaukee and Miss
Carol Severson of Milwaukee spent Sunday at the home of her patens, Mr. and Mrs.
Hugh Severson.
Legionnaires and members of the auxiliary and their
spouses gathered at the Wallis-Hinker Legion post hall in Greenwood Saturday
evening to observe the American Legion’s 51st birthday. Auxiliary members
prepared and served an 8 o’clock dinner. The principal speaker was Sheriff David
Bertz of Neillsville.
