Ewald Haglund came home from Havre, Mont. Thursday for a week's
visit with his relatives and to enjoy a needed vacation.
Mrs. A. Wilcox,
mother of Mrs. N. Paul, who has been visiting here for the past week, went to
Kellogg, Minn. last Thursday.
Dr. F.E. Sillick went to Fond du Lac Monday
to attend a meeting of the state veterinarians. Forrest Shanks accompanied him.
Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Darton of the town of Beaver were visitors at the home
of Mrs. Darton's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Rossman, Sr.
Mabel Bishop
returned home Tuesday of this week. She is prepared to do piano tuning and
repairing, and will assister her father in the general piano business.
Robert Follette and wife of Spencer, and Miss Glassner of Marshfield, autoed
over here from Marshfield Monday. They visited friends in this city,a fter which
they returned to Spencer.
Mr. and Mrs. Theodore Anderson of Chicago have
been visiting at the home of Antone Kristiansen the past three weeks. Mr.
Anderson purchased 80 acres of wild land west of town while here.

Lamont went to Minneapolis on Monday.
E. Bowen went to Colby on business
this morning.
Axel Krokson has built a new shed onto the rear of his
saloon.
Mrs. O.A. Prellwitz is visiting with her parents at Sherry this
week.
J.A. Jacobson returned Tuesday from his visit at Charlotte, Mich.
Mrs. W.E. Oelig returned to her home at Eagle Point Tuesday. She was
accompanied by Mrs. Wm. Oelig, Sr.
Wm. Volk went to Chicago Monday, where
he will take a course in men's garment cutting, at one of the academies in that
city.
Mr. and Mrs. P.A. Potter of Black River Falls arrived this morning
for a visit at the home of Mr. Potter's sister, Mrs. Matilda Hogue.
Mr.
and Mrs. R.E. McIntyre arrived from Ellsworth Friday evening. They will be found
at home in their residents on Main Street after August first.
It was
reported to us yesterday that the fire which has been burning along the pond and
around the power house, "burned the dam and about four rods of the pond."
Mrs. N.J. Carter and Marion went to Hayward Tuesday for a several week's
outing and recreation. They will visit at the home of W.E. Cornick and other
relatives.
The new cement walk from Bryden's to the stock yards has been
completed and is certainly a great improvement to that end of the city. Alfred
Eggett and crew are now at work building a walk at the M.E. Church.
Henry
Palms of Tioga was in the city M onday.
Miss Hazel Warner was a
Marshfield visitor on Monday.
Mrs. Simon Schwarze and children visited at
Loyal Tuesday.
The Ladies' Aid will meet with Mrs. Carl Grashorn,
tomorrow (Friday).
St. Anne's Society will meet with Mrs. Jacob Volk,
Thursday, July 28th.
Mrs. L. Covey of Loyal visited at the home of Mrs.
Matilda Hogue on Sunday.
Ebb. Watson left for Milwaukee Monday, where he
will remain for some time.
Carl Keilsvig returned Thursday from a trip to
the Dakotas and Blanchardville, Wis.
H.H. Hartson and two daughter, Ruth
and Marion were visitors at Lynn last week.
The King's Daughters will
meet at the Baptist Church Wednesday afternoon, July 27th.
John Bushman
and wife went to Manitowoc on Friday for a visit with friends and relatives.
The Greenwood and Marshfield baseball teams will play ball on the local
diamond next Sunday.
Glen Armstrong went to Park Falls Saturday, from
which place he accompanied the Park Falls ball team to Ironwood, Mich., where he
pitched ball Sunday. Glen lost his game, but it took his opponents eleven
innings to get it.
Helen Olena Ystad, the five month old daughter of Mr.
and Mrs. Hans Ystad, died Friday night, July 15th, from a sudden attack of
cramps. The funeral was held at the home Sunday morning, Rev. A.B. Dyre
officiating, and interment made in the Greenwood Cemetery.
John McCarty
of Longwood recently sent down a sample of the hay he is raising on his farm
this year, by rural carrier number four. Two spears of timothy hay were
received, one which had a head 9 1/2 inches long and the other 10 1/2 inches in
length. They may be seen at this office at any time.
The Royal Neighbors
will give a benefit ice cream social for Mrs. Simon Noah on the city park
corner, Saturday afternoon and evening, July 23. Everybody's patronage is
especially solicited for this occasion. The Noah family is in deplorable
condition and every cent that can be sent to them at Loyal will be immensely
appreciated.
