There will be
Norwegian Lutheran services in the Presbyterian Church next Sunday, Sept. 11, at
2 p.m. Sunday school Saturday, the day before, at the same place.
Rev. W.
Norton visited at the Gullord home the fore part of the week. Mr. Norton has
completed his year at Rib Lake and is not waiting for a new field to be assigned
him.
The Hennepin Bridge Co.'s crew is here preparing to put in the new
steel trestle on the F. & N.E. railroad bridge. The work must be done without
delaying any trains.
Since Sept. 1st the state law forbids the use of
public drinking cups on trains, in railroad stations, private and parochial
schools, other education institutions and in public places.
Joe Thompson,
accompanied by his mother and brother George and sister Mary, came home Friday
night from Appleton. Mrs. Thompson has been visiting Joe a few days at Appleton
while on her return home from Iowa.
Up to Monday night the salting
station had received 4,120 bushels of cucumbers. Mrs. Aspen of Tioga appears to
be the most successful raiser, as her weekly checks run larger than any other
grower. With good weather for a short time, the capacity of the station, 10,000
bushels, will be filled (Fairchild Observer)
Jas. Bryden and wife of
Portland, Ore. are visiting at the home of A.B. Armstrong and family. Mr. and
Mrs. Bryden are on an eastern tour and will visit Massachusetts and other
eastern points before returning home. Their many old time friends here are glad
to see them looking so hale and hearty. The farm now occupied by Carl Grashorn
will be remembered by the older residents, as having been the home of Mr.
Bryden.
The Greenwood Heading and Lumber Co. offer for sale their entire
plant consisting of sawmill, heading mill, dry kiln, machinery, planing,
moulding, matching machines, etc., for interior finish, a fine business in this
line with lumber yard. Reason for selling is that part of the company wishes to
retire from business. -- Greenwood Heading and Lumber Co., Greenwood, Wis.
