John Stafford went to Black River Falls Tuesday to buy some more horses for
his livery.
Joe Moore came home from Bena, Minn. Sunday for a visit with
his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Steve Moore, north of town.
Harry Nicholson of
Stanley was in town last week buying a carload of potatoes for A.N. Penny Co. of
Waupaca.
The Farmers' Cooperative Supply Co. held its annual business
meeting Monday. The present officers, N.C. Foster, president; G.A. Foster, vice
president; J.A. Jacobson, secretary and J.T. Drummond, Treasurer, were
re-elected.
The Norwegian Ladies Good Hope Society will meet with Mrs.
Ole Moberg Wednesday afternoon, April 19th.
Dr. W.R. Kennedy of Milwaukee
was in town Tuesday. He drove down from Owen with his brother, Dr. Frank Kennedy
of that place.
Brakeman McRourie is laying off this week. Glen Armstrong
is taking his place.
Fred Oelig, A.C. Barr and H.E. Hartson have been
drawn as jurors for the spring term of court, which convenes at the county seat
next week.
Rev. David Wilson went to La Crosse Tuesday to attend the
Presbytery which is in session there.
Norman Ashley of Chippewa Falls
came Saturday to take the place in the creamery vacated by Fred Speich.
Mr. and Mrs. C.J. Carter entertained about 50 guests at the Woodman hall at
cards Friday evening.
Otto Anderson and family are enjoying a new Kohler
piano recently bought of G.W. Bishop.
An Easter dance is being advertised
for next Friday night, the 21st, to be given for the benefit of the ball team. A
basket supper is announced and the ladies are requested to bring baskets and
lunch for two.
Bob Anderson of Stevens Point came up the first of the
week and has taken Morris Anderson's place as fireman on the branch. He was
accompanied by his wife. They will likely make their home here soon.
Ethel Stanbow, the little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Aug. Stabnow, died Friday
morning, after two weeks suffering from pneumonia. She was the third of five
children and was nearly five years old. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at
the Baptist Church and the little body laid to rest in the Greenwood Cemetery.
Miss Dewitt returned Saturday from her vacation visit at her home at
Clinton, Iowa. She was accompanied by her friend, Miss Hastings, who will visit
here a few days.
Mrs. Ralph Meek and son Gordon returned to their home at
Fond du Lac on Tuesday.
Malcolm Pfunder came home Monday from Oconto for
a couple of days visit at the home of his grandparents.
G.W. McVicker,
who lives on the Smazel place on the West Side, will have an auction this
afternoon. He expects to go to Underhill, Oconto Co. to work this summer.
The Marshal has been thawing out and flushing out the steel culverts at the
bank corner the first of the week.
Miss Owen returned Monday from her
home at Milton Junction, where she spent her vacation.
Mr. Ardern put in
a day and a half among the farmers while here last week, with good success. He
says the cucumber seed will be here April 18th and can be obtained at the Drug
Store and Rossman Steiger Co., or the Big Store. Mr. Ardern will come again
sometime after the seed is planted and watch the progress of the vines, etc.
