Former Spirit area
resident Robert "Bob" W. Anderson, 89, Chicago, Ill., died on Sunday, July 7 at
the Wesley Place Care Facility in Chicago.
Funeral services will be held
on Friday, July 12 at Hemer Funeral Home in Rib Lake, with Pastor David Clements
officiating. Interment will be at Hillcrest Cemetery in Spirit with full
military honors performed by the Spirit American Legion Post No. 452.
Pallbearers are Loren and Paul Nelson, Clarence and Joe Johnson, George Hedstrom
and Ben Kauer.
Visitation will be held at the funeral home on Friday from
10 a.m. until the time of service.
Robert Anderson was born on March 27,
1924 in Spirit to the late Fred C. and Lena (Vierqutz) Anderson. After high
school he entered the United States Marines, and served in the 1st Marine
Division in the Pacific during World War II. After his service in the military,
he worked for A.L. Jackson Construction Company for 23 years as a carpenter and
general laborer. Bob was later employed through the Labor Union as a carpenter
for 23 years until his retirement in 1988.
He was a member of AFL-CIO
Carpenters Union Local No. 58 and AFL-CIO Labor Union Local No. 3 of Chicago, F
& A.M. King Oscar Lodge No. 855 and Swedish American Recreation Club in Chicago,
and was a former member of Zion Lutheran Church. He enjoyed bowling, reading at
the library, talking about old times, taking pictures, snowmobiling and
exercising.
He is survived by a nephew, Harold (Emily) Swenson of
Brantwood.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two
twin brothers at birth, and two sisters, Ruth Swenson and Della Anderson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Robert's family to be
designated at a later date.
