"Vince" J. Sackmann, 91, Stetsonville, died on Thursday, July 11 at Our House
Assisted Living in Medford.
Per his request, no services will be held.
Hemer Funeral Homes of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with
arrangements.

School
MARRIAGE:
June 10, 1943, Medford, where they celebrated their
70th Wedding Anniversary this year, to Pearl V. Lekies
PRINCIPAL EVENTS
IN LIFE:
Vince worked on a mink ranch since the age of 14, after school,
weekends and during the summer. Vince worked in Laona for about 9 months in a
flooring factoring in the spring of 1942 until being drafted in November 1942.
He served in the Army Air Force during WWII from November 1942 till
February 1946. In November 1942 he did his basic training in Utah, then spent
six weeks at Fort Sheridan, IL
to be a meat and dairy inspector. Vince then
was at South Carolina Columbia Air Base for two in a half years in Veterinary
Detachment; a branch of the Medical Department. It involved inspecting meat and
dairy. He also vaccinated guard dogs and all pilots had dogs.
Vince and
Pearl were married and lived in South Carolina; transferred to Nebraska for 3
months; transferred to Kansas until he was honorably discharged. From 1946-1951
he managed Ben Ruesch Mink Ranch. He then worked for Ed Dittrich mink ranch 2
summers before going into the service and after his return he worked full time
from 1952-1955. Vince then built, owned and operated a mink ranch in Rib Lake
from 1955 until his retirement in 1987. In 1987, they moved to the Stetsonville
area.
Enjoyed working with his mink, playing cards, watching sports and
reading.
