Glenzer, Vernon (5 DEC 1921 - 19 JUL 2005)

Vernon Glenzer, 83, of 2230 14th St. S., Wisconsin Rapids, formerly of Biron, died Tuesday, July 19, 2005, at Riverview Manor in Wisconsin Rapids.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Friday at Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids. The Rev. Wanda Veldmen will officiate. Burial will be in Nasonville Cemetery in the town of Rock.

Vernon was born Dec. 5, 1921, in Mayville to Anton and Rose (Schultz) Glenzer. He married Charlotte Hustedt on Oct. 28, 1944, in the town of Rock. She died on July 13, 1994.

Vernon was employed by Consolidated Papers Inc., Wisconsin Rapids Division, as a power house operator for 40 years, retiring in 1984.

He was a member of Sons of Norway, Musky Club and First Congregational Church. He enjoyed fishing, gardening and woodworking.

Survivors include his son, Dale (Marsha) Glenzer of Wisconsin Rapids; one daughter, Kathy Glenzer of Wisconsin Rapids; three granddaughters, Amy (James) Czenczek and Sherry (Darin) Meyer, both of Wisconsin Rapids, and Lori Glenzer of Dubuque, Iowa; one great-granddaughter, Jessica Czenczek; two great-grandsons, Jake Czenczek and Jackson Meyer; two sisters, Irene (Marvin) Lueck of Rib Lake and Lois (Thomas) Slipka of Clayton; one brother, Kenneth Glenzer of Tomahawk; and one sister-in-law, Marion Glenzer of Rib Lake.

He was predeceased by his parents; wife; one brother, Vilas "Bud"; and two sisters, Adeline Leonhard and Rae Jean Doubek.

Friends may call at Taylor Funeral Home in Wisconsin Rapids from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday.
