H.C. Witte went to Augusta
Tuesday evening.
Little Grant Morris has been very
ill with pneumonia since Monday.
Lillian Albrecht of Chili is here
visiting her sister Mrs. Alf. Bartz.
Henry Sultrecht went to Almond
where he has employment, Monday.
Miss Amelia Trimbuerger spent
Tuesday with friends at Neillsville.
Wilson Mallory went home to
Stevens Point, Tuesday.
Mrs. Gust. Beilke and son Harry
went to Marshfield, Tuesday.
Al Jahr spent Sunday with his
mother and sister at Neillsville.
Mrs. A.J. Knorr went to Alma
Center Monday to visit a sick friend.
Will Rhead of Alma Center spent
the first of the week here a guest of his friend Robert Garbisch.
Mr. and Mrs. H.W. Deming of
Appleton were guests in the Loyal Jordan home, late last week.
Miss Katie Shafer of the town of
Sherwood took the train for Milan, Tuesday.
Mrs. Nachtwey of Dorchester
visited Mr. and Mrs. O.A. Peterson here the first of the week.
Miss Schaffner of Loyal is here
visiting her sister Mrs. Oscar Jahr since Monday.
Wm. Dahlke has such a sore eye as
to need medical attention for the ailing member since Monday.
Ross Paulson is home from the
Dakotas since Tuesday. He brought
with him a carload of 22 horses.
Will Otto of Blooming Prairie,
Minn., moved here and took possession of the Eric Nelson farm in the town of
Washburn last week.
Edwin Moldenhauer of Neillsville
was an over Sunday guest of his brother Walter and family.
Fred Bartch of Fremont who is
suffering with an abcess in his ear since last week Friday was in town for
medical treatment Tuesday.
State bank examiner Ellis of
Appleton was here last Friday. He
found everything to his entire satisfaction.
Mrs. Clara Garvin of Waldo who
has been a guest at the Fred Tyler home for several weeks past, left for Antigo
Tuesday.
Renatta Witte and little brother
baby Alex spent Tuesday with their mother at the hospital at Marshfield.
Mrs. H.C. Witte who is very ill
at the Marshfield hospital is reported as slowly recovering in health and
strength. Mr. Witte spent Sunday
with her.
Miss Amelia Krause entertained
one of the young ladies sewing clubs at the J.M. Tompkins home one evening last
week.
The misses Ora and Amy Marsh were
decidedly on the sick list this week, though both are about O.K. at this
writing.
W.B. Wentworth of Edgerton, after
a 5 days visit here with his son Rush, returned home on Tuesday.
Frank Lavey went to Neenah Monday
to attend the funeral of a niece, one Miss Martha Wickershan.
Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Merk of Fond
Du Lac are guests of Mrs. Amelia Reichert and her family since Tuesday.
Gust. Ayers went to Black River
Falls Tuesday evening.
Will Hubing spent the first of
the week at Chili on business bent.
Chas. Neinas went to Chicago
Tuesday on business.
Mrs. Fred Tyler and her guest
Mrs. Clara Garvin of Waldo went to Chili and spent Saturday afternoon with Dr.
and Mrs. H. Housley.
Mrs. Dora Garbisch is still very
ill with pneumonia at her son Fred’s north of here.
Miss Mollie Grauser is the nurse employed since Monday.
Mr. and Mrs. Clark Waterman went
home to Chili late last week, his wounds having healed sufficiently so that Mrs.
Waterman is now able to dress them and he is able to be up and about the house.
Will Shafer has been under the
doctors care and quite ill since Monday, necessitating Mrs. Schafer giving up a
trip to Whitehall and assisting in the care of sick relatives of hers in that
city.
Will Chrisenger and Clarence
Engleman both of Hixon came up late last week and remained until Tuesday, guests
at the Fred Dopp home.
Alyin Lindow of Chili was in town
Tuesday and with Free Raymond, Ernest Lee, Joe Bird, Will Worchel, and August
Lautenbach, continued on to Neillsville on the noon train.
Mrs. Baer entertained thirty-two
school children Saturday afternoon ata progressive dominoes and charged them 10
cents each. Ice cream, cake and
wafers were served and the proceeds amounting to $3.25 was turned over to Mrs.
P.J. Kemmeter, treasurer of the sidewalk fund.
John Hiles went to Wausau on
Tuesday to see the new 10 pound daughter which was born to Mr. and Mrs. John
Martin there last week. Mr. Hiles
brought little Adelaide Martin home with him next day.
She is to make an extended stay here with her grandparents.
Mr. and Mrs. Loyal Jordan
accompanied by Mr. and Mrs. H.W. Deming and Fred Petran of Appleton went to
Osseo Monday to be present at the immersion services held there for the
I.B.S.A., the first of this week.
Mr. and Mrs. Jordan returned home on Wednesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Joe Trader of Fall
Creek came Saturday and made an over Sunday visit between the Gene Osgood and
Harry Burch houses and returned there on Monday.
Dr. Rath at the Homer Downer
sugar bush last Saturday trying his strength with an iron maul striking a steel
wedge had a piece of the wedge fly and cut into and lodge in the calf of his
left leg, inflicting such a deep and painful wound as to necessitate his going
to Eau Claire Saturday evening and after its removal there that night, to remain
and come home Monday, on crutches.
Mrs. Will Dahl and her 2 children
came down from Wheeler Saturday to spend a week between the Chas. Lowery and
John Dahl homes.
Mrs. H.M. Ross entertained the
Circle and a few friends Wednesday.
County Supt. Miss Kennedy was in
town Monday.
Miss Isabelle Pitts of Tioga is
here assisting Mrs. Walter Moldenhauer with her household duties.
Mrs. Homer King has been quite
ill with rheumatism for the past 2 weeks.
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Hart and
daughter of Humbird came over Tuesday to visit his brothers Fred and George and
families.
Chas. Dietrich spent Wednesday
with friends at Marshfield.
Mrs. James Finnegan visited Mrs.
Mat Marx at Neillsville, Tuesday.
Edwin Halfaufderhelde went to
Merrillan Wednesday.
John Hefty of Chili wa here on
business Wednesday.
Little Wilber Fraser has been
very sick since Monday.
Master Harold Lavey is will with
pneumonia since early this week.
Mrs. Hale Davis visited
Marshfield friends yesterday.
Leonard Cole was on the sick list
yesterday.
Mrs. Roy King is a patient at the
Marshfield hospital since Thursday.
Mrs. Bertha Tragsdorf of
Neillsville was the guest of Mrs. Knorr here Wednesday.
Len Hayter, Wm. Green and Louis
Kleinschmidt of Chili were in town on business, Wednesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Harry Eide drove in
Wednesday and Harry bought a horse of Ross Paulson.
Little Ralph Winn who suffered a
broken leg some four weeks ago had the plaster cast removed form same,
Wednesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Ernest Bergeman of
Fenwood came Saturday and remained over until Tuesday visiting their son Gus and
his family.
Arthur Neinas armed with his
diploma from the business college at Appleton is due to arrive home from there
Sunday morning.
J.F. Leyun of Rice Lake arrived
here from the experimental station at Madison Tuesday to test the herd of cows
on the L.E. Moh farm for milk production.
A.J. Knorr and E.A. Beeckler
spent Wednesday at Owen in attendance at the county convention of the M.W.A.
Rush Wentworth has purchased a
G.L.K. milking machine and expects to have it here and installed soon.
Mrs. Hale Davis will entertain
the O.E.S. Birthday club next week Saturday.
All visiting O.E.S. are welcome.
Mrs. Clemens Kuechenmeister and
Mrs. Joe Counsell spent yesterday with the Mesdames Walter Gerhart, H.C. Witte
and J. J. Hirsch at the hospital in Marshfield.
Alex McInnis of Nasonville
visited his daughter Mrs. Willis Williams here the first half of the week.
Mrs. N.E. Crandall after a weeks’
visit here at her son, Gene’s went home to Neillsville today.
C.W. Chubb of the town of Lynn
spent the first half of the week engaged with business at the county seat.
Mr. and Mrs. Herman Schwantes of
Spencer came down on Wednesday for a several days visit at their son Fred’s on
the Ridge.
Carl Yankee, Oscar Anding, B.
Dudel and son Harold, Frank Wood, Mrs. Herman Wegner and Altra Piecher were
among the Granton folk at Neillsville Wednesday.
Mr. Ernest Schreiber and daughter
Mary are here from Plymouth since Tuesday to see his sister Mrs. Dora Garbisch
who is at the Fred Garbisch home north of here.
Miss Bernice Stockwell of Spooner
is here visiting the Baers since yesterday when she came over from Neillsville
after spending the first half of the week with her grandma Stockwell.
Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Beeckler have
returned from Independence Iowa, and are at home on the Robert French farm in
Levis which they have rented since last week.
They visited his parents Mr. and Mrs. E.A. Beeckler here Tuesday.
Lewlyn Beecher was at Thorpe last
Friday and accepted a position with the Thorp Creamery Co.
He is to report for duty there next Monday.
His home at Lynn is placarded for whooping cough and in all probability
the family will not be ready to move when he goes.
The Rev. Wolf will continue to
hold preaching services in the Union church every evening up to and including
Sunday. Everybody is invited to
attend any or all of these meetings.
