E.T. Burch was
a Marshfield visitor Tuesday.
Mrs. Geo. Bishop visited in Marshfield the
first of the week.
Ed Arends returned from the southern part of the state
on Monday.
C.A. Ardern of Merrillan was in town Wednesday.
Ray
Howard returned Sunday via Owen from his Milwaukee trip.
Frank Ditten was
a Marshfield visitor on Saturday.
Frank Duell went to Sheboygan Falls
last Thursday, where he will work this summer.
John Cronin returned to
Minneapolis Saturday after a week's visit at the home of his brother, Pat
Cronin.
Sam St. John drove down from Owen Wednesday to get his wife and
baby. They returned to Owen today.
The Thursday Club will meet with Mrs.
Geo. Van Voorhis Thursday afternoon, may 25th.
The Ladies Aid will meet
with Mrs. Alba Varney Friday afternoon, May 19th.
The German Ladies
Society will meet with Mrs. Paul Rossman Sr. Friday afternoon, May 19th.
Mrs. G.S. Barlow went to Arcadia Monday to visit at the home of her daughter,
Mrs. Al N. Simon.
Axel Krokson has moved to the Barber building opposite
Bryden's, to the Hoffman house on Begley Street.
Frank Zetsche and wife
went to Neillsville Wednesday to attend the wedding of Ollie Rand. We failed to
learn the name of the groom, but will make more complete mention next week.
Mrs. Dr. H.R. Schwarze went to Wausau Saturday to spend a few days with her
husband. She returned to Greenwood Tuesday. Herman has located there for the
practice of his profession and they will make their home there.
We
learned this week that Hezekiah Hubbell of Beach, N.D. lost his barn by fire
recently. The fire started from a bonfire the children had set. The loss is
about a thousand dollars.
P.M. Stevens received a shipment of leather
this week containing ten sides weighing 220 pounds. It is certainly fine stuff.
It cost Pete $90.00. And right there we think we can see into the high cost of
living problem.
A party composed of members of the Baptist congregation
went to the Weils home on the old Hendrickson place Friday evening and spent the
evening with them. A very enjoyable time was recognized.
The Frank
Zetsche place on the east side of town was sold recently to John Horn of
southwester Minnesota. Mr. Horn arrived Saturday with his family and household
goods. Mr. Zetsche will live int eh Randle house for the present.
Andrew
Christie, who was recently quite severely injured while a car of stock, which he
had charge of, was being switched in the freight yards here, is recovering
