LES FRAHMAN GETS BADLY BURNED
SCALDED BY
STEAM AND WATER SATURDAY
Latest reports from St. Joseph’s hospital at
Marshfield say that the condition of Les Frahman, Owen, is improving. He has
been hospitalized since Saturday when he suffered lst and 2nd degree burns to
the front of his body from his shoulders down to his legs and third degree burns
about his hands.
Frahman is an employee of the North Central Wisconsin
Dairymen’s Cooperative and was washing out the vats in their whey plant when the
gate hinge on an eight-inch valve broke off allowing a heavy stream of hot water
and steam to flush out on him as he was pinned against the wall.
Jerry
Boxrucker was at the plant with him at the time of the accident and assisted in
getting him aid and to his home where he was checked and treated by Dr. Phillips
before being sent to the hospital in the city ambulance.
Sam Nelson,
manager of the firm’s whey’s division, said that although Frahman is badly
burned he is still fortunate the accident happened when he was flushing out the
vat because the water used , isn’t as hot as when the actual operation is
underway, nor did it contain the caustic compound used in production.
