MRS. MABEL R. BOWER
At 2:00 o’clock yesterday
afternoon, Wednesday, November 18 funeral services for Mrs. Mabel R. Bower were
held at the Methodist Church in Withee. Officiating at the final rites was Rev.
David Kellin. Burial was made in Riverside Cemetery.
Pallbearers were
George Burmeister, Einar Finnila, Charles Hautamaki, Chris Christophersen,
Christ Rasmussen and Lester Himes. In charge of floral offerings were Mrs.
Charles Hautamaki and Mrs. Lester Himes.
Mrs. Bower passed away Sunday,
November 15, at St. Joseph’s Hospital at Marshfield of a heart condition. She
had attained the age of 73 years, eight months and six days.
Born March
9, 1891, in Arthur North Dakota, the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. George B.
Farnham, she was united in marriage to Leonard O. Bower on February 20, 1908.
The ceremony took place in Aberdeen, South Dakota.
The couple made their
home from the time of their marriage until 1926 in Montana when they moved to
Owen settling here on a farm which they operated until 1942. They then moved to
Jim Falls where they made their home until 1956 when they retired and returned
here making their home at Withee.
During her late years Mrs. Bower gave
much of her time to the Methodist Church in Withee.
She was preceded in
death by her husband who passed away on April 9, 1963, and a brother.
Survivors include four sons, George Bower, Mesa, Ariz.; Harry Bower, Bellwood,
Ill.; Albert Bower, route 1 Owen, and Leroy Bower, Choctow, Okl.; four
daughters, Mrs. William (Edith) Niemi, route 1 Owen; Mrs. Paul (Shirley)
Rasmussen and Mrs. Fred (Laura Bell) Reynolds, Milwaukee, and Mrs. Arthur
(Margaret) Boehm, Wausau; three brothers, Harry Farnham, Arthur, N. D.; Hiram
Farnham, Ashville, N.C.; and Donald Farnham, Chula Vista, Calif.; four sisters,
Mrs. Myrtle Halvor, Scottsdale, Ariz.; Mrs. Edith Winningham, Charlotte, S. C.;
Mrs. Alice Lillie, Ames, Iowa, and Mrs. Jessie Tees, Jamestown, N. D.; 28
grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
