Bentzler, John (June 1902-Oct 1964)
John H. Bentzler, 62, of 1025 Emerson Ave., South Bend, Indiana, died at 10:20
a.m. Saturday at St. Joseph’s Hospital, South Bend, after a four months illness.
He was a retired Studebaker Corp. employee. He was born June, 1902, at Farmhill.
He went to South Bend 36 years ago. He was married July 3, 1930. in South Bend
at St. Stephan’s Church to Ethel Nagy, who survives. Also surviving are three
sons, Robert J. Bentzler of Shreveport, Louisiana; Richard F. of Lydick and John
A. Jr. at home; three grandchildren; four brothers, George and Christ both of
Loyal, Peter and Matthew both of South Bend; five sisters, Mrs. Edward Wenzel of
Hartford, Mrs. J. F, Loos of Green Bay, Sister M. Carmelia (Lucy Bentzler) of
Manitowoc, Sister Rose Carmel (Lora Bentzler) of Petosky, Michigan.
Services were held at 9:30 a.m. Tuesday at St. Matthews Co-Cathedral, West Bend,
with the Rev. Msgr. Arnold J. Wibbert, pastor, officiating. Burial was in the
Highland Cemetery, West Bend.
Mr. Bentzler was a member of Studebaker
Local 5, United Auto Workers.
