Barbara
Ann Schefus, Loyal was united in marriage to James Morris Mercer, Marshfield at
Trinity Lutheran Church on Saturday, October 17 at 1:30 p.m.
The bride is
the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Herman Schefus, Loyal; and the groom is the son of
Mr. and Mrs. Rupert J. Mercer, 700 N. Oak Avenue, Marshfield.
The 1:30
p.m. nuptial rites were performed by Rev. Alden M. Moldenhauer. Miss Schefus was
given in marriage by her father.
Baskets of chrysanthemums graced the
altar.
The hymn, “Today, Oh Lord” was sung by Vern Dahilby and Carol
Kasper. The pastor sang “The Lord’s Prayer.” Fhey were accompanied at the organ
by Jean Voss.
The bride came down the aisle in a gown of silk taffeta,
with a scoop neckline of alencon lace on the fitted bodice that fell from an
empire waistline into a huge sweeping train. Alencon lace medallions were
scattered throughout the skirt.
A four-tiered bouffant veil of silk
English illusion was caught to a pearl lattice work headpiece.
She
carried a bouquet of roses and carnations.
Mrs. Harold D. Blumenstein,
Marshfield, was matron of honor and Mrs. Norman Arndt, Marshfield, and Mrs.
Dennis Schefus, Waukesha, served as bridesmaids.
They were attired in
frocks of bronze crystallette tight bodice topping sheaths topped by overskirts.
Short bouffant veils were secured to pillbox headdress for the aides, who
carried pale champagne fuji mums.
Noel Hayden, Marshfield, was best man;
Norman Arndt and Dennis Schefus, the groomsmen.

Mercer as ushers.
A reception was held at the home of the bride’s
parents, followed by a supper in the church hall. A dance was held in the
evening at the Sprotsman’s Park, Colby.
The new bride, who is employed as
a nurse aide at St. Joseph’s Hospital, is a 1962 graduate of Loyal High School.
MR. Mercer was graduated from Marshfield Senior High School in 1959 and works
for Boson Construction and Supply Inc. at Marshfield.
Following a wedding
trip to northern Wisconsin and into Canada, The couple will live at 107 Parkview
Terrace, Marshfield.
