Babcock, Laura (1828 – 30 DEC 1915)

Laura D. Goodrich was born in New York in 1828 and was united in marriage to Orlando W. Babcock in 1848. She died at the home of her son, Charles Babcock, on the north side on Dec. 30, 1915. Mr. and Mrs. John Babcock came to Wisconsin over 60 years ago and they lived in Clark County for over 45 years. Mr. Babcock died about 12 years ago and since that time his wife made her home with her son. Deceased was a fine type of noble womanhood for she lived a life replete with kindly acts and good will toward all her friends and neighbors. Her long residence in Clark County was the cause of a wide acquaintance and friendship and her many friends were sincerely grieved to learn of her demise. She had been in failing health for some time, but maintained a cheery disposition and kindly attitude at all times. She was the mother of three children, one of whom, Rollin Babcock, is dead. The other two, Charles Babcock of this city and Mrs. Edith M. Waterman of Centralia, Wash., survive their parents. Deceased is also survived by four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. The funeral was held Sunday and interment made in the Neillsville Cemetery. Among those who were here for the funeral were Ed. Schroeder and family, Chester Finnegan and Hugh Berg of Granton, W.S. Wallace and family from Alma Center.
