Malone G. Ellis, 72, of rural Gilman, died on
Monday, July 29, 2013 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield.
He was
born on August 11, 1940 in Cornell to the late Gene and Marsella "Micke"
(Killoy) Ellis.
He grew up in the Pershing area and went to Gilman High
School. Malone married Jean Ruse on March 25, 1961. The couple started farming
in the Donald area. They moved after the DNR bought that farm and then they
moved to their current farm east of Hannibal. The couple farmed there until
Malone started driving over the road trucking 18 years ago.
Malone was a
member of the 32nd Division of the National Guard 51 years ago last spring. He
also served on the Gilman Ambulance from 1980 to 1989. Malone enjoyed horseback
riding in the early years and was an avid bowler, deer hunter and fisherman and
enjoyed woodworking.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 52 years, Jean
of Gilman; his son, David (Andie) Ellis and a daughter, Nadine (Scott) Capelle,
both of Gilman; his granddaughter, Mandee Herring; grandsons, Eric Ellis and
Colton Capelle; great-granddaughter, Dylan Herring; and his dog, Goober. Malone
is preceded in death by his parents, and his in-laws, Elgen and Gladys Ruse.
A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 1 at the Gilman
Funeral Home with Rev. Aric Fenske officiating. Inurnment will take place later
in the Donald Cemetery. Fellowship will follow the service at Dot and Jerry's.
