Carl
Nelson was born on April 29, 1933 in Spirit to the late Albin and Ruth C. (Ahl)
Nelson. He attended Spirit Center Grade School and received his GED while
serving in the United States Army. He served from 1954 to 1955 during the Korean
Conflict.
On August 17, 1957 at St. Matthew's Lutheran Church in
Brantwood, he married Diane R. Larson, who survives. He worked a short time
doing building construction in Owens, Ill., then started dairy farming on his
father's homestead. They later purchased his mother's homestead and moved the
operation to his uncle's barn, where he continued farming for over 40 years
until retirement in 1999. He also cut pulpwood while farming.
He was a
member of Spirit Methodist Church. He enjoyed nature, working outdoors,
4-wheeling, snowmobiling, watching the Packers, his good sense of humor, being a
family man and especially spending time with his grandchildren.
In
addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Randy and Michael (Angela),
both of Spirit; two daughters, Terri (Bruce) Roberts of Tomahawk and Lori
(Larry) Wiitala of Ogema; three grandchildren, Brooklyn, Lindsey and Niklas; two
step-grandchildren; two step-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews; and other
relatives and friends.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by a sister, Alice Bebault.
In lieu of flowers, memorials can be
made to his family to be designated at a later date.
