The funeral services for Mrs. Lena Hopfensperger, 73,
formerly of the town of Holton, who died Easter morning at Kaukauna were held
Wednesday morning at St. Bernard’s Catholic church.
The Rev. Raymond B. Schulz officiated at the Mass of requiem at 11
o’clock.
A general rosary service was held Tuesday evening at the
Polnaszek Funeral Home, Abbotsford, where the body lay in state since Tuesday.
The pallbearers for the interment which was made in the
Dorchester cemetery were Anton Keller, Gerald Pinter, John Pinter, Lawrence
Pinter, William Zugier and Gilbert Westphal.
Mrs. Hopfensperger, the former Lena Jackmann, was born
May 16, 1891, in Calumet county. Her
marriage to Frank Hopfensperger took place at Appleton Feb. 18, 1909.
In 1915 the Hopfensperger family came to a farm in the town of Holton.
While residing there Mrs. Hopfensperger was a member of
St. Bernard’s Catholic church, Abbotsford, and the Catholic Ladies’ Alter
Society.
Mr. Hopfensperger died Sept. 3, 1954.
For a number of years Mrs. Hopfensperger lived with her
daughter, Mrs. Roman Thiel, at Appleton and then at the Rose Nursing Home at
Kaukauna where her death occurred.
She is survived by five sons and three daughters:
Lawrence of Abbotsford, Harvey of Wausau, Harold of Black Creek, Vilas and
William, Colgate, Mrs. Bernard (Margaret) DeBruin of Black Creek, Mrs. Roman
(Esther) Thiel of Appleton, and Mrs. Harvey (Irene) Van Dyke of Kaukauna; two
sisters, Mrs. Margaret Schumacher of California and Mrs. Charles (Hannah)
Hartziem of Menasha; 24 grand children and 22 great grand children.
She was preceded in death by two daughters, a son, six
sisters and three brothers.
