Scheel, Ralph Sr. (16 July 1886 - 18 April 1970)
Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon in Loyal for Ralph Scheel, Sr., 83,
of Rt. 1 Loyal, who was found dead in a pasture with his clothing badly burned.
The body was found by Scheel’s wife early Saturday when he failed to return
home after going to a wooded and pasture area of the farm to burn grass. It was
believed that he had died of a heart attack and that his clothing later was
ignited by the grass fire he had started.
The service was conducted by
Bible Student Loyal Petran of Racine and burial was made in the Loyal
Cemetery.
Scheel was a native of the Loyal area, having been born there
July 16, 1886. He was married in Sherry on June 28, 1916, to Elizabeth Thomas.
They observed their golden wedding anniversary in 1966. The Scheels had resided
on their present farm for the last 54 years.
Survivors include his wife;
six sons, Ralph, Jr., of Neillsville, Arthur of Greenwood, Walter, (balance of
obit was missing on my copy).
