Trachsel, Fred (20 December 1904 -
14 April 1970)
Fred Trachsel, 65, died last week Tuesday of a heart
attack while fighting a fire on the bluff near the Humbird grade school. He was
attempting to control the fire in the wooded area near the school while waiting
for the fire department. The death was investigated by Robert Lulloff, Clark
County Coroner. Mr. Trachsel was custodian of the grade school for many years.
He had been under care for a heart condition.
Mr. Trachsel was born in
Argyle December 20, 1904, and came to this vicinity in early boyhood. He farmed
in this area before serving as the school custodian.
Survivors are his
wife, Mildred; two sons, Richard of Rochester, Minn., and James of Humbird;
eight grandchildren; five sisters, Mrs. William Theiler of Humbird, Mrs. Albert
Elmer and Mrs. Virgil Klassy of New Glarus, Mrs. Delbert Weir of Wray, Colo.,
and Mrs. Howard Pierce of Black River Falls.
Funeral services were held
April 17 from the United Church of Christ with the Rev. Wayne Lura officiating.
Burial was made in Mentor Cemetery.
