Bromley, Eva P. (Franzen) (15 MAY 1914 - 30 JUL
2013)
Eva P. Bromley, 99, of Jump River, passed away peacefully on
Tuesday, July 30, 2013 at the Ladysmith Care Community in Ladysmith.
She
was preceded in death by her husband, John, daughters, Louise Bahr and Kathleen
Musiedlak, son, Father Vincent Bromley, and infant great-grandson, Jeremy
Sturtevant.
She is the beloved mother of J. Jerome (Dorothy Wernig) of
Ft. Pierce, FL, Mary Ann Olson of Ladysmith, Margaret (Edward) Jedinak of
Hartland, Dennis of Owen, Roger (Margaret) of Brown Deer, Colin of Normal, Ill.,
Paula of Jump River and Rita (Peter) Hutchinson of Goode, Va.; 23 grandchildren;
32 great-grandchildren; six great-great-grandchildren; and nephew, Francis
Franzen and family.
Eva was born on May 15, 1914 in Iowa Falls, Iowa. Her
family moved to Jump River when she was four years old. Eva was the fifth child
born to Michael and Anna Franzen. She outlived her sisters, Isabella Schueller,
infant Clara, Agnes Johnson and Lucille Hoehn, and her brothers, Valery,
Lawrence and Cyril Franzen.
Eva graduated from Pioneer Grade School in
the Town of McKinley and McDonell High School in Chippewa Falls. She worked for
a short time at St. Mary's Hospital in Ladysmith and St. Joseph's Hospital in
Chippewa Falls. On April 10, 1934, she married John Bromley, and lived on their
farmstead in the Town of McKinley for most of the rest of her life.
Her
life of 99 years was a rich heritage of endurance and twentieth century change.
Her Catholic upbringing offered tradition and a love for reading. The Depression
made her frugal and resilient. She valued half-price sales and flowers in her
vegetable garden. She was the devoted matriarch of her large family. Eva enjoyed
reading, gardening, traveling with John, keeping up with the news, but most of
all, being around her large family.
A Mass of Christian Burial was held
on Monday, Aug. 5 at St. Michael's Church in Jump River. Interment was at Mt.
Nebo Cemetery in Jump River.
Nash-Jackan Funeral Home of Ladysmith
assisted the family with arrangements.
