Johnson, Lenora F. (Schmidt) (6 APR 1923 - 4 AUG 2013)
Lenora F. Johnson,
90, Town of Hammel, died on Sunday, Aug. 4 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital, where she
had been a patient the past two days.
Funeral services will be held on
Wednesday, Aug. 7 at 11 a.m. at St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Medford, with Rev.
Nancy Amacher officiating. Interment will be at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II.
Pallbearers are her grandchildren, Dale, Tim and Mark Miller, Jon and Tracey
Kapitz, and Jason and Sara Johnson.
Visitation will be held at the church
on Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of service.
Hemer Funeral Homes
of Medford and Rib Lake assisted the family with arrangements.
The former
Lenora Schmidt was born on April 6, 1923 in the Town of Hammel to the late John
C. and Freida (Fischer) Schmidt. She attended Wayside School in the Town of
Hammel.
On September 8, 1943 in Medford, she married John C. Johnson, who
preceded her in death on January 6, 2001. She farmed in the Town of Hammel and
while farming worked as a clerk at Malchow's Grocery Store in Medford, and also
sold Avon products for 39 years until recently.
She was a member of St.
Paul's Lutheran Church and Avon Honor Society. She enjoyed flower gardening,
cooking, baking, socializing and collecting ceramic dolls.
Survivors
include two children, Diana Kapitz and John "Jack" L. (Carol) Johnson, both of
the Town of Hammel; six siblings, Arnold (Virgean) Schmidt and Roy Schmidt, both
of Sussex, Ervin (Delores) Schmidt, Ruth Schrauth and Gloria Spreen, all of
Medford, and Louise Piller of Watertown; seven grandchildren; and nine
great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was
preceded in death by a brother, Marvin Schmidt, and a son-in-law, Art Kapitz in
2008.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions be
made to the family for future designation.
