Members of the
Birthday Club were entertained Monday evening by Mrs. Don Warner at a 6:30
dinner at the café, followed by bridge at the Warner home. Prizes were awarded
to Mrs. Palmer Vinger, Mrs. Hazel Helwig Mrs. Rose Ludwig and Mrs. A. C. Buker.
Mrs. Olga Reineking accompanied Arthur Meinholdt of Merrillan and Mr. and
Mrs. Hans Kolpanen Saturday to Independence, Mo., where on Monday they attended
the funeral of their brother, August Meinholdt. They returned Tuesday evening.
Mrs. Fred Behrens entertained the contract bridge club at her home Wednesday
afternoon.
Mrs. Lawrence Cox, Mrs. Rose Ludwig, Mrs. Harold Krom, Mrs.
Truman Hill, Mrs. Roger Liebzeit, Mrs. Carl Lindner, Mrs. John Plautz, Mrs.
Martin Kirn, Mrs. Henry Vollrath and Mrs. Ray Touschek went on a bus trip to
Minneapolis Tuesday.
Mr. and Mrs. Don Warner and Lawrence Jackson were
guests Sunday at the Don Telford home in Eau Claire.
Frank Francel of
Marshfield spent Saturday at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ignatz Koschak.
The
American Lutheran Church women will meet in Our Savior’s Lutheran Church today
(Thursday). Hostesses will be Mrs. Arthur Turnquist, Mrs. Carl Turnquist and
Mrs. Clarence Verhulst. The Naomi Circle will be in charge of the program.
Sandra Smith will talk and show slides on Ecuador, where she spent last summer
as an exchange student.
The Come and Know Homemakers met Thursday
evening at the home of Mrs. Arthur Hendrickson. Mrs. Thomas Querin conducted the
meeting. The group donated the second quilt last week to a family who lost their
home by fire, and they are planning to make another quilt to have on hand. A
discussion was held on college week and coming meetings. Mrs. Milton Ystad read
a paper on “the pill”. The follow-up lesson will be held at the next meeting May
14.
Relatives and friends were entertained Sunday evening at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Novobielski in celebration of the birthday of Mr.
Novobielski.
Overnight guests Tuesday at the home of Mrs. Elvera Fravert
were Mr. and Mrs. Hans Kolpanen of Milwaukee.
Mr. and Mrs. Thomas Querin
and children, Martha and Chris, were weekend guests at the Vernon (Butch)
Kuester home in Milwaukee. Mrs. Kuester and Mrs. Querin are sisters.
Mrs.
Elvera Fravert and children, Margaret, Mark and Marilyn, called at the home of
Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Grahn in Deerfield Saturday.
