Harriet (? - 31 July 2013)
Harriet (Koltis) (Luzinski) Smiderski, age 84,
of Chicago, passed away on Wednesday, July 31, 2013, at Resurrection Hospital in
Chicago surrounded with the love and support of her family. Funeral services
were held on Saturday, August 3, 2013, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Martha’s Catholic
Church in Morton Grove, IL. Burial followed at St. Adalbert Catholic Cemetery in
Niles, IL.
Harriet Koltis was born in the Town of Reseburg, rural Thorp,
to Anton and Josephine (Kosnowicz) Koltis. She was formerly married to Chester
Luzinski and was blessed with to wonderful daughters Irene (Lawrence Dudkowski)
and Jeanette (Frank Berendt). She then moved to Chicago with her girls in 1952.
On September 8, 1954, Harriet married Frank Smiderski. She worked for Lewis
Spring Manufacturing for 40 plus years before retiring in 1994. Even though she
moved to Chicago, her heart always remained with her family in Wisconsin. She
always enjoyed brining her children and grandchildren to visit all of her
brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews in Wisconsin.
In her later years,
her favorite things to do were puzzles, word search books and spending time with
her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her two
daughters: Irene (Lawrence) Dudkowski and Jeanette (Frank) Berendt; four
grandchildren: Brian (Stacey) Dudkowski, Jacqueline Dudkowski, Frank (Stacy)
Berendt and Edward Berendt; four great-grandchildren: Katarina and Gage
Dudkowski and Timmy and Lilly Berendt; three brothers: Walter Koltis, Joseph
Koltis, and Jerry Koltis; three sisters: Leocadia Bogue, Adella Abramczak, and
Sister Kathleen Koltis.
She was preceded in death by her parents;
husband; five brothers: Adolph, Edward, Ben, Frank, And Ted Koltis; and two
sisters: Genevieve Lewerenz and Helen Frinack.
Harriet will be greatly
missed by all who were lucky enough to know her. Her bright smile and memorable
laugh will forever be remembered.
